Red Sea Expedition
Expedition to the deepest point in the Red Sea
MISSION COMPLETE
March 2020
The third phase of Caladan Oceanic’s 2020 Expedition programme took place in the Red Sea, off the western coast of Saudi Arabia.
The dives were the first manned descents to the deepest point in the Suakin Trough and were performed by Victor Vescovo and Saudi-national Mohammed A. Aljahdli.
The team also dove the shallower, but scientifically important Kebrit Deep (Arabic for “sulfur”), 250 miles to the north.
