The organisations whose support, advice, and expertise have made The Five Deeps possible
Caladan Oceanic
Caladan Oceanic is a private company dedicated to the advancement of undersea technology and supporting expeditions designed to increase our understanding of the oceans and support their ecological sustainment.
Triton Submarines
Triton Submarines LLC, based in Florida, USA, is the world’s most experienced personal submersible builder. Triton submersibles are renowned for their quality, reliability and luxury. Every Triton submersible is designed, built and certified to Classification Society rules – even the DSV Limiting Factor.
Flags of the Expedition
United Nations
The flag of the United Nations represents the international nature of the expedition crew, equipment suppliers and testers who span more than twenty nations. It also represents the international nature of the sea — a worldwide commons for the entire world to cooperatively transit, explore and manage.
United States
The flag of the United States of America represents the place of origin of the support ship DSSV Pressure Drop and the main construction location for the submersible DSV Limiting Factor.
Texas
The flag of the Lone Star State pays homage to the birthplace of the expedition’s creator, financial sponsor, and chief submersible pilot. He was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and has also carried a Texas flag to the summit of the highest mountain on every continent, as well as to both the North and South Poles.
The Explorers Club
The Explorers Club is an international multidisciplinary professional society dedicated to the advancement of field research and the ideal that it is vital to preserve the instinct to explore.
The presence of these flags on the Limiting Factor or onboard the Pressure Drop does not indicate any formal recognition or endorsement of the Five Deeps Expedition or its members by the states or oganizations the represent, with the exception of The Explorers Club. They are simply personal selections by the primary sponsor of the expedition that were felt to be symbolically representative of key members of the builders, crew, and other expedition supporters.
